It’s a Friday morning in Chicago, the orange and peach
rays of sunrise has not risen upon the bright, and inviting city. A young
volunteer of the name of Cindy is packing her lunch for a field trip in
Wisconsin. The time on a hanging clock in the room was 4:50 a.m., a bit of an
early time for Cindy, but not too far from her usual morning time. Henry, her
step-brother, also wake up early this morning and enjoyed a simple breakfast of
eggs, bacon, and rice.
“Hey sis, what time was it again?” Henry asked. “My
class and I leave the school the school at 9:00 in the morning, and arrive back
at 3:00 p.m. three days from now” Cindy answered, receiving a disappointed
sigh. “Wished I could have been a chaperone. All the sites your class going to
would be fun” Henry admitted. “Maybe this summer we could go to Wisconsin”
Cindy assured him, and finished packing her lunch. After washing her hands,
Cindy began preparing her book bag. Suddenly, one of her papers flew out of her
hands and in front of Henry. Henry take a glance at the paper, but realize
quickly it was a music sheet.
“Hey, is this the song that…” Cindy take the music
sheet out of Henry’s hand. “Yes, and I done struggling with that foolish song.
I already told her I’m not going to play that silly song and I even tried.
Besides, I have too many events I need to study for” Cindy told Henry. “Did you
really try? Because you have a terrible habit of giving up so easily” Henry
pointed out. “I did tried. I spent hours on the song, but got nowhere!” Cindy
said, Henry scanned her face for any signs of lies. “Okay. At least talk to
your Piano teacher before completely giving up” Cindy slowly agreed, concluded
she would talk to Ms. Wiggins tomorrow. With all her supplies and lunch ready,
Cindy leave her house to head to school.
“Alright, everyone here?!” Shouted Mr. Wofte, the art
teacher. The teacher received “yes” from the crowd of students in front of him,
the entire group was besides the school building. After collecting all his
students’ field trip slips, Henry led the group to an average school bus.
Everyone paired up into twos and sat in an open seat from the back of the bus
to the front of the bus. Cindy paired up with her classmate Jerry. Emphasize
“classmates”.
Cindy was very friendly and helped classmates, but often
felt lonely and alienated due to her interests. Everyone in all her classes
seem to be interested in completely sports, recent drama and top tv. shows.
Cindy was very different, she loved gaming and anime/manga. In short, Cindy
felt she could never talk openly to her classmates, she does not know exactly
what everyone like, and the volunteer had remained her “little world” until
high school. Cindy, however, was willing to learn the topics and interests of
her pears to Now, the volunteer was listening to her songs looking out of the
window. Cindy enjoyed looking at the passing scenery, it assured her she was
going somewhere and not idle wasting her life.
Cindy allowed for the silver buildings, colorful
sculptures of arts, institutes of learning, and nature keep her company on the
ride. In three hour, the bus arrived in the vacation-centered state
Wisconsin. Cindy almost drifted into
sleep, to be shaken by vibrations from the bus driving on bumpy terrain. Cindy
sat up properly and laid her back against the bus seat.
Cindy looked into the window and felt a chill keep
slowly into her spine. The bus was too
close to trees, at least the road was….scary” Cindy thought. Cindy tried to
push worried thought out of her mind, before fear began to spark into her mind.
In one swift to the left, Cindy felt the gravity shifted and her vision began
flashing. Her mind began panicking wildly, and her heart began to shatter from
pain caused by fear. Cindy felt like a tumbleweed in the bus as it fell over
the edge, hoping broken glass did not puncture anything vital. Her vision
blurs, and she enter her subconscious.
Cindy never expected her memories before her “death” to be so…bleak. It
was just fun memories with loved ones, except for a small black speck.
Suddenly, one sad memory emerged.
“Cindy!” wined a six-year old girl. “No, I told you
before. I can’t play this song!” Cindy shouted. “It was a lie, but I don’t have the time, energy or tolerant”. “Please!”
the girl begged again, giving Cindy a music sheet. “I tried playing the song”
Cindy explained. Cannot stand the lyrics
and presentation of the song, it was atrocious. “Angel, I’m sorry. Maybe a
different song?” Cindy asked, before Angel shoved the music sheet in her hand
and ran out of the room.
Cindy woke up hours later, her innominate left hand
clothed in bulky white bandages. Cindy in minutes learn what happened. The bus
veered over the road due to ice on the road, causing the bus crash and many
students injured. Cindy was more worried
about the school, than her own mangled hand. The next day, she would be given
surgery for the hand and leave the hospital with her parents wondering if she
will ever use the left hand again.
